Many books have been written against it, and others meant to take the place of it: religion, philosophy, sociology, psychology, political science, parapsychology, etc.  It is like trying to replace real money with counterfeit. The counterfeits will always be around, but there is nothing like the real thing.

"The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great..." God spoke these words to Abraham on His way to visit the Sodom and Gomorrah of which he was about to destroy. The sinfulness of the city was an abomination before God. The irony of this is that Abraham was able to get God to spare the city if there were only ten righteous people there. This is a sad commentary that there were not even ten righteous people in the entire city. In all of this we can see the compassion and faithfulness of God to His friend Abraham.

"The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave. I will go down now, and see if they have done entirely according to its outcry, which has come to Me; and if not, I will know."

That is, it is God's continuous involvement in all the details of this world, of this country, of your life. He is involved in all of those details for the purpose of working out and fulfilling His eternal and all wise plan.

It has been described as "the place of conscious and decisive spiritual activity," "the comprehensive term for a person as a whole; his feelings, desires, passions, thought, understanding and will," and "the center of a person, the place to which God turns."

"The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick;

Yet this is the place to which God turns to communicate with man.
