God's Grace is always free. It is a gift to be received, not a prize to be earned. "Salvation is not granted to men as a result of anything they are, or do, or resolve to be, but it is the undeserved gift of heaven."

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that
not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

The new birth, the beginning of spiritual life for every believer. When divine life is imparted, the Holy Spirit enters the believer's body. This miracle is achieved through the hearing and believing of God's Word, by the working of the Holy Spirit and by our response to God of believing the truth.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
John 3:6,7

This means "to reckon" or "to put to one's account" by a judicial act of God. God put our sins upon Christ at the cross and He put Christ's righteousness upon us as believers.

To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:19

A middle-man is needed to bring together a Holy God and sinful men. This is the "daysman" for which Job longed and which Christ proved to be.

And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive
the promise of eternal inheritance.
Hebrews 9:15

You were bought with a price. Believers were once the slaves of sin and uncleanness, the curse of the Law's terrible judgment, fear of impending death, and Satan's power. Now we have been made free in Christ because He has paid the price with His own precious blood.

Redemption were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
1 Peter 1:18-19

Through Christ's work, not that of man, God has become favorable to us and the claims of justice have been satisfied. The man who prayed the sinner's prayer cried, "God, be propitious to me."

...being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed.
Romans 3:24-25

Baptism is a picture of salvation. It is very important, and it follows the new birth, but does not cause it.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19

A divine act of a holy God whereby a sinner who believes in Christ is pronounced righteous before Him and acquited of all charges. Justification is by grace, by faith and by His blood, without works and apart from the law. Justification by works is a demonstration of the reality of faith already possessed, an outward display of faith by action, following salvation.

...knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
Galatians 2:16

The audio of the Bible Truth Broadcast radio show for the air date of Sunday, June 10, 2012 has been posted. This is broadcast number 2312, entitled "Truth" by Jim Hunt. One of the most beautiful verses in the Bible is found in Psalm 85:10, 'Mercy and truth are met together, righteousness and peace have kissed each other.'  Mercy and truth are often linked together in the Psalms. Where was that more clearly demonstrated than at the cross?

Sometimes when a person wants to affirm the validity of what they are saying, they will say, 'That's the gospel truth.' What can be more true than the statement that God loves you, Christ died for you, He offers pardon, forgiveness to all who will simply believe that He died for them?

Excess Baggage

The audio of the Bible Truth Broadcast radio show for the air date of Sunday June 3, 2012 has been posted. This is broadcast number 2212 entitled, "Excess Baggage" by Saul Cooper. I find it very interesting to watch track events. When the runners come to the starting line, you can see that they have trained themselves well, some for several years for a race that will be over in less than 4 minutes for the mile and in only a matter of seconds for the 100 yard dash. That is what I want to talk about today, running the race of life, performing your best. To do that we must get rid of all "Excess Baggage."

The audio of the Bible Truth Broadcast radio show for the air date of Sunday, May 27, 2012 has been posted. This is broadcast number 2112, entitled "Memorials" by Jim Hunt. I heard a father, whose son gave his life in Iraq, make the statement that for him, every day is Memorial Day. Many others have been touched directly by the sacrifice made by family members who have fought and died that our freedoms might be maintained. They will not be forgotten by family members; may they never be forgotten by us as a nation.

Where Do We Go From Here?

The audio of the Bible Truth Broadcast radio show for the air date of Sunday May 20, 2012 has been posted. This is broadcast number 2012 entitled, "Where Do We Go From Here?" by Saul Cooper. The children of Israel were just freed from slavery in Egypt by God who demonstrated His great power to the Egyptians and Israel. They saw the plagues and the great sea open for them to pass and then drown the Egyptians as they pursued them. Now in the wilderness of sin they find themselves faced without bread and water. So they grumbled at Moses -  it’s his fault.

A wilderness can be frightening. Oftentimes we find ourselves in a wilderness just like the children of Israel, and we have to make a choice. The children of Israel had to make a choice; they had three alternatives to choose from:

1. Return to the security of slavery in Egypt.

2. Camp in the wilderness of sin.

3. Move with haste to the Promised Land.

Mothers' Day Message

The audio of the Bible Truth Broadcast radio show for the air date of Sunday, May 13, 2012 has been posted. This is broadcast number 1912, entitled "Mother's Day Message" by Jim Hunt. There is nothing that exceeds the love of a mother, except the love of God, and the highest level of motherly love certainly comes from God. There are many outstanding women whose names and lives are recorded in the Bible. Compared to other belief systems, many of whom demean women, the Bible honors women, and relates stories of courage, devotion, dedication, loyalty and spiritual insight of women, that in many instances eclipse the best characteristics of the men of their times.

The God of New Beginnings

The audio of the Bible Truth Broadcast radio show for the air date of Sunday May 5, 2012 has been posted. This is broadcast number 1812 entitled, "The God of New Beginnings" by Saul Cooper. One of the main emphases of Biblical Christianity is that of newness - the opportunity for rebirth, to become a new person. It has been said that there are no stains or blots on the future. Each person, no matter what the past has held, is faced with the opportunity for a new beginning in life this very day. This morning our study will be to Teach, Illustrate and Apply this Bible Truth.

The Book of Books

The audio of the Bible Truth Broadcast radio show for the air date of Sunday, April 29, 2012 has been posted. This is broadcast number 1712, entitled "The Book of Books" by Jim Hunt. The Bible is truly "The Book of Books." It is a Book that gives us information about Creation, and the God of Creation, about ourselves and the remedy for the sin problem that we all have. It gives words of practical wisdom and how we can increase in wisdom. It gives us glimpses into the future and tells us how our future can be secure. There is no other Book like it. "Read it to be wise and obey it to be holy."

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105
