God's Grace is always free. It is a gift to be received, not a prize to be earned. "Salvation is not granted to men as a result of anything they are, or do, or resolve to be, but it is the undeserved gift of heaven."

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that
not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

The new birth, the beginning of spiritual life for every believer. When divine life is imparted, the Holy Spirit enters the believer's body. This miracle is achieved through the hearing and believing of God's Word, by the working of the Holy Spirit and by our response to God of believing the truth.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
John 3:6,7

This means "to reckon" or "to put to one's account" by a judicial act of God. God put our sins upon Christ at the cross and He put Christ's righteousness upon us as believers.

To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:19

A middle-man is needed to bring together a Holy God and sinful men. This is the "daysman" for which Job longed and which Christ proved to be.

And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive
the promise of eternal inheritance.
Hebrews 9:15

You were bought with a price. Believers were once the slaves of sin and uncleanness, the curse of the Law's terrible judgment, fear of impending death, and Satan's power. Now we have been made free in Christ because He has paid the price with His own precious blood.

Redemption were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
1 Peter 1:18-19

Through Christ's work, not that of man, God has become favorable to us and the claims of justice have been satisfied. The man who prayed the sinner's prayer cried, "God, be propitious to me."

...being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed.
Romans 3:24-25

Baptism is a picture of salvation. It is very important, and it follows the new birth, but does not cause it.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19

A divine act of a holy God whereby a sinner who believes in Christ is pronounced righteous before Him and acquited of all charges. Justification is by grace, by faith and by His blood, without works and apart from the law. Justification by works is a demonstration of the reality of faith already possessed, an outward display of faith by action, following salvation.

...knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
Galatians 2:16

Bible Standard Time

The audio of the Bible Truth Broadcast radio show for the air date of Sunday, October 25, 2009 has been posted. This is broadcast number 4309, entitled "Bible Standard Time" by Jim Hunt. Every fall, on a designated Sunday, we set our clocks back an hour. We don't really gain an hour, we just retrieve the hour we lost last spring. Changing back to standard time made me think about time in general and how much we are creatures of time. Most of us have wrist watches that are a continual reminder that we have schedules to keep, deadlines to meet, and other obligations that are time related.

We know that God isn't subject to time, He is in control of time. Jesus stepped out of eternity into time.

When the fullness of time was come, God sent forth His Son... Galatians 4:4

The Bible has a lot to say about time and our use of time. May this message be helpful in enabling us to see the standards that God has set in His Word for wise stewardship of the allotted days and hours that God has given to us.

Rational Sinner

The audio of the Bible Truth Broadcast radio show for the air date of Sunday, October 18, 2009 has been posted. This is broadcast number 4209, entitled "Rational Sinner" by Saul Cooper. There are those who say there is no God. They say this because they rationalize all of the evidence that points to the existence of God. In essence they deny that there is a God. In this message they are called the Rational sinner.

Whoever Will May Come

The audio of the Bible Truth Broadcast radio show for the air date of Sunday, September 27, 2009 has been posted. This is broadcast number 4109, entitled "Whoever Will May Come" by Jim Hunt. The best known verse in the Bible is John 3:16; "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOEVER believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God is no respecter of persons. That word WHOEVER includes YOU. Can there be a greater invitation? How shortsighted, how foolish to not respond to so great an offer of everlasting life. Yet many are making excuses that betray their indifference to eternal realities. Weak excuses are given in a parable told by Jesus in one of our stories today.

What is your excuse?

8 Principles

The audio of the Bible Truth Broadcast radio show for the air date of Sunday, October 4, 2009 has been posted. This is broadcast number 4009, entitled "8 Principles" by Saul Cooper. Paul revealed 8 principles in his life that every Christian should have in Romans 1:8-15. We should endeavor to learn and practice these 8 principles. They are listed and explained in this message.

8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. 9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers, 10 making request if, by some means, now at last I may find a way in the will of God to come to you. 11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established— 12 that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

13 Now I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that I often planned to come to you (but was hindered until now), that I might have some fruit among you also, just as among the other Gentiles. 14 I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to unwise. 15 So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also. Romans 1:8-15

Would You Do Me A Favor?

The audio of the Bible Truth Broadcast radio show for the air date of Sunday, September 27, 2009 has been posted. This is broadcast number 3909, entitled "Would You Do Me A Favor" by Jim Hunt. It tells the story of a 9 year old boy's last second request before surgery that had a profound effect on his anesthesiologist. It also brings important lessons from John 15:1-17 that should solicit an RSVP from us to Him.

Choosing the Will of God

The audio of the Bible Truth Broadcast radio show for the air date of Sunday, September 13, 2009 has been posted. This is broadcast number 3809, entitled "Choosing The Will Of God" by Jim Hunt. Many decisions come our way every day. Some are trivial, others have lifetime or even eternal consequences. What we may call trivial in certain situations could turn out to be much more than that, and have a major impact on our lives and the lives of others. May we learn to be faithful in the little things of life.

The Hands of Jesus

The audio of the Bible Truth Broadcast Radio Show for the air date of Sunday, August 30, 2009 has been posted. This is broadcast number 3609, entitled "The Hands of Jesus" by Jim Hunt. When Jesus touched eyes that had dried out, they suddenly admitted light and color again. Once He touched a woman who suffered with a hemorrhage, knowing that by Jewish law she would make Him unclean. He touched those with leprosy - people no one else would touch. In small and personal ways, His hands set right what had been disrupted by the Fall.
