Joel teaches from Genesis and Hebrews, with a focus on Geneses chapter 48, on how Jacob blessed Joseph’s sons as his own.  This act of faith was recorded as Jacob’s greatest act of faith, which gives the rest of us hope that our greatest act of faith is yet to come. Jacob gives the blessing to the younger, rather than the older.  Joel highlights how this pattern is seen throughout the scriptures and is a picture of how we must be born again and put away the old man and receive the blessings of the new man.
